Privacy Policy
Last updated 23 August 2026 · ScorpEase LLC
This policy covers scorpease.com and Salary Sherpa, both operated by ScorpEase LLC.
Keystead Vault is not covered here. It is a separate application with accounts, document uploads and its own processors, and it keeps its own policy at keysteadvault.com/privacy. ScorpEase LLC is the company behind both.
1. What we collect
Information you give us
If you order a Salary Sherpa report, you complete a questionnaire hosted on Tally. It asks for information about you and your business, including:
- Your name, email address, and business name
- Your role, credentials, experience, and how your working hours divide across the functions you perform
- Your current W-2 salary, if any, and distributions taken in the prior year
- Your business's expected revenue and net income for the year
- The salary of your highest-paid employee doing comparable work, where applicable
If you email us, we receive whatever you choose to put in that message.
Information collected automatically
Our hosting and content-delivery providers keep standard server logs — IP address, browser user-agent, the page requested, and a timestamp. These are used to serve the site and to investigate abuse or outages.
What we do not do
scorpease.com runs no analytics, no advertising or tracking pixels, and sets no cookies. There are no third-party scripts on any page. Fonts are self-hosted rather than loaded from Google, so viewing this site does not disclose your IP address to a font provider.
Pages that link out — to keysteadvault.com, Tally, or a social profile — hand you to that service only when you click. Their own policies apply from that point.
2. Tax return information and IRC §7216
Some of what the Salary Sherpa questionnaire asks for is tax return information as that term is used in section 7216 of the Internal Revenue Code and the regulations under it.
Section 7216 restricts how a tax return preparer may use or disclose that information. We treat what you give us as covered by those restrictions, and we handle it accordingly:
- We use it to research, prepare and deliver the report you ordered, and to keep our own records of what we delivered. That is the purpose you gave it to us for.
- We do not sell it, and we do not use it for marketing or to advertise other services to you.
- We do not disclose it to anyone outside the providers listed below, except with your written consent or where the law requires it.
- If we ever needed to use or disclose it for some purpose beyond preparing your report, we would ask for your written consent first — and you would be free to say no. A consent covers only the purpose, recipients and duration it names; we would not treat one as covering later, different uses.
Unless authorized by law or by a consent you have given, we do not use your tax return information for any purpose other than preparing the report you ordered.
If an adviser fills in the questionnaire for you
The questionnaire is designed for the business owner to complete themselves. Where a CPA or other adviser completes it on a client’s behalf, they are moving that client’s return information into a third-party service — and §7216 generally requires the client’s prior written consent before they do. Obtaining that consent is the adviser’s responsibility, not ours, and we rely on them having done it.
3. How we use information
- To research, prepare and deliver the report you ordered
- To reply to you, and to follow up about an order in progress
- To keep records of what we delivered and when, including for our own professional and tax purposes
- To operate and secure the site
We do not use your questionnaire responses to build advertising profiles, and we do not send marketing email to an address collected solely to deliver a report.
4. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers to run the business. They receive only what they need to perform their function, and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.
| Provider | What it handles |
|---|---|
| Tally | Hosts the Salary Sherpa questionnaire and receives your responses |
| Google Workspace | Our email, including anything you send to hello@scorpease.com |
| Render | Hosts scorpease.com; keeps server logs |
| Cloudflare | Content delivery and protection in front of the site; keeps server logs |
Beyond those, we disclose information only: with your consent, including a §7216 consent; to a professional adviser bound by confidentiality; or where we are legally required to.
We do not sell personal information, and we have not done so.
5. How long we keep it
We keep questionnaire responses and delivered reports for as long as needed to support the position the report documents, and to meet our own record-keeping and tax obligations. In practice that means several years rather than months, because a compensation report is most useful if it can still be produced later.
Email is kept until it is no longer useful to keep.
You can ask us to delete your information, and we will unless we are required to retain it. See below.
6. Your choices
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what information we hold about you
- Correct anything that is wrong
- Delete it, subject to any retention we are legally required to observe
- Withdraw a consent going forward
Email hello@scorpease.com and we will respond. We do not charge for this, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional statutory rights. We apply the above to everyone rather than sorting people by jurisdiction.
7. Security
The site is served over HTTPS with HSTS. Questionnaire responses are transmitted to Tally over an encrypted connection and are accessible only to us. Email is protected by the controls in Google Workspace, including two-factor authentication on our accounts.
No system is perfectly secure, and we will not claim otherwise. Please do not send tax documents, account credentials or identity documents by email. If we need something like that, we will tell you a safer way to send it.
8. Children
ScorpEase products are for adults operating a business. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, tell us and we will delete it.
9. Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and, where the change affects information we already hold, tell the people affected.
10. Contact
